3 Tools That Every Homeowner Should Have

As you probably know, owning a home is a big responsibility and at times it can be really overwhelming. You never know when something is going to go wrong, and when something does happen you need to do your best to be prepared. While you can’t anticipate every potential problem with a home, there are a few common things that you can be prepared for.

A basic tool kit is an absolute must for any homeowner and there are at least 3 tools that every homeowner should have:

  1. Trusty Hammer- Believe it or not, a hammer is one of the most useful household tools that you can have. Even if you won’t be hammering nails into wood, there are all sorts of things that you can use a hammer for. If you can only have one hammer at your house make sure it is one that is lightweight and easy to use. When you pick a hammer try and get one that has a curved claw back, as they can be used to pull out nails.
  2. Measuring Tape- Measuring tapes are fantastically useful and you’d be surprised how often they’ll come in handy. Whether you’re working on a woodworking project or just hanging a picture on a wall, the measuring tape is something you simply cannot do without. You want to get a measuring tape that is little medium heavy duty so that it is at least medium grade so that it can handle the wear and tear of normal use.
  3. Screwdriver- The third major tool that you should have is a screwdriver. They can be used for a wide variety of things instead of just screwing in nails. While it is always nice to have a power drill to take the place of a screwdriver, there is nothing more reliable than the original tool itself. Screwdrivers come in a bunch of different sizes and it’s wise to get a nice set of them to fit all sorts of different screws.

For those of you who aren’t feeling very savvy with home maintenance there are plenty of resources that you can turn to. For starters you may want to head over to the nearest hardware store and see what kind of literature they have. If you have a hard time learning from books you can always speak with the sales associates as they are trained to help answer any questions that you might have.

If you don’t have a hardware store nearby there are plenty of online resources that you can turn to. There are lots of how-to blogs and plenty of how-to videos on YouTube and with a little bit of time spent browsing you should be able to find something to help you with your project.
